1. Each participant has to play air guitar on stage in two rounds, each lasting for 1 minute.
- Round 1: Participant plays a selection of their choice. Typically the song has been edited (or a medley has been created) to fit the 60-second format.
- Round 2: Participant plays a section of the song chosen by an organizer or competitor; usually the song is not announced beforehand and kept secret until the round begins, so a participant has to improvise.
2. The contestant is judged on his air guitar handling abilities. How much the performance looks real.
3. How convincing is the performers mime & costume apart from the accuracy of the fret work. The illusion of an invisible guitar.
4. The Charisma of a Rock Star, lack of stage fright. Engaging the audience with “guitar showmanship”.
5. Originality, the ability to be taken over by the music, stage presence, technical merit, artistic impression and airness.
6. Each member of the jury gives marks from 4.0 to 6.0 for a performance. The points scored by a contestant from both rounds are added together, and the contestant thus receiving the highest total score wins.
7. Only one person can be crowned the Champion. If there’s a tie between 2 or more participants, an extra round is
to be played until there is a clear winner.
8. The jury judges the contestants according to their own taste and perceptive.
9. The judge’s decision cannot be appealed.
